Of all the Indian captains in the recent times, Virat Kohli is undoubtedly the most courageous one. His approach towards situations, bold and brave decisions turned out pretty well in producing fantabulous results for India. Within the very short span as Indian captain, Kohli has already broken many records. Adding to his captaincy is his personal performance. Responsibilities did not affect Kohli’s performance as a batsman.

Kohli has the best winning rate among every one of the captains who held the responsibilities of the national side for 60 matches or more.  The aggressive right-handed batsman captained India to its most consecutive bilateral ODI series wins equaling the consecutive ODI match win record set by former skippers, MS Dhoni and Rahul Dravid.

Virat Kohli has an impeccable record as the Indian skipper, especially in the longer format of the game. He is the fastest Indian skipper to score ten centuries in Test Cricket. The Delhi batsman took only 44 innings to get to the ten hundreds, just in front of the legend – Sunil Gavaskar by 8 innings. Virat Kohli became the first Indian skipper to score a double century in 84 years overseas when he scored his maiden 200 in West Indies in 2016. He by and by holds the record of the most twofold centuries scored by an Indian captain.

I see a lot of me in Kohli – Ravi Shastri:

Ravi Shastri, the head coach of the Indian cricket team, has communicated colossal fulfillment at the way Virat Kohli has developed both on and off the field, basically singling out how the Indian skipper’s improvement as batsman and captain has positively affected the group’s fortunes. Speaking at a function in Mumbai, the former Indian all-rounder backed Kohli’s aggressive approach. He also related the youngster’s aggression to himself.

“I do (see a lot of myself in Virat). Our mindsets are pretty similar, we are pretty aggressive, and we like to compete. And when someone has a mindset and the work ethic like Virat’s, it is bound to rub off on the other players of the team, and that’s is why India is having a great run at the moment,” he was quoted by PTI.

MS Dhoni is a legend:

“MS is a legend and he can remain unfazed in any situation. Whether he gets out for zero or scores a hundred, whether he wins the World Cup with a six, he is the same. There is a lot of mutual respect that Virat and Dhoni share. Their relation is fantastic and whatever you read in the media might not be true. Virat will go to him (Dhoni) seeking his advise, that communication is tremendous from the team point of view,” Ravi Shastri added when asked about differences between Kohli and Dhoni.
