In modern-day cricket, there are 4 cricketers who are showing the world their class and authority as they are raising the bar every time they are on the crease with the willow in their hand. Indian captain Virat Kohli, Australia skipper Steve Smith, England captain Joe Root and the Blackcaps skipper Kane Williamson have been playing some unbelievable cricket at the moment and are being compared with each other at every opportunity.

Virat and Smith are the two batsmen who probably are on the best of their games notching centuries after centuries. Kohli has scored 6 double centuries in last 18 months while Smith recently hit a double ton in the ongoing Ashes series.

They are all great players

Former India skipper Dilip Vengsarkar, in an interview with gulf news, was asked to give his opinion on the ongoing comparison for the best batsmen among Kohli, Smith and Root.

Vengasarkar said that it is wrong to compare them as they all are great players. “They are all great players and I feel it is not right to compare them,” he told gulf news. Although the former India skipper was quick to confirm that if you ask him to watch one of them play, he will go for Kohli.

“If you ask me who will you want to watch play, I will watch Kohli because he is so elegant and a brilliant cracker of the ball. Smith is an effective player but not an elegant player,” he stated. The current Indian captain is known for some of the classic cricket shots, the Australian skipper has his own unorthodox technique and shots to get to those mammoth scores.

He said that even Joe Root is a very good cricketer and has the all the abilities of a great player, but he will walk extra miles to watch the Indian captain play.

India had a great home season and now the world number 1 Test side is set to play South Africa in South Africa where they play 3 Tests, 6 ODIs and 3 T20Is. The first Test starts on  5th of January.
