Deepak Chahar versus Rahul Chahar will definitely be one of the subplots when defending champions Mumbai Indians lock horns against their bitter rivals Chennai Super Kings on Friday in the ongoing Indian Premier League. While Deepak will be leading CSK’s pace attack, Rahul will be looking to continue his fine performance this season for MI.

Deepak and his first cousin Rahul, who belong to Rajasthan’s Bharatpur, have turned heads with their performances in domestic cricket as well as IPL and will be eyeing another fine performance tonight. Their journey in the IPL had started with the same team when the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant had signed them up.

But after the franchise’s run in IPL came to an end, the brothers were bought by different teams. Both of them will be definitely desperate to get the upper hand tonight. So far, Deepak has picked up ten wickets in as many games while conceding just over seven runs per over. Rahul, on the other hand, has picked up 11 wickets in nine games with a decent economy rate of 7.40.

Rahul Chahar opens up on the rivalry

Ahead of tonight’s clash, Rahul Chahar gave an insight on his rivalry with his brother in a video posted by Mumbai Indians’ official Twitter handle. Rahul recalled how Deepak had teased him after CSK’s win over MI in 2018 and he returned the favour in the following year. Rahul also vowed to tease his brother again if MI wins tonight.

“I prefer doing the talking after the game if we win. I remember, in 2018, he teased me after his team had won. Last year, I teased him after we won. I will tease him again after we win,” Rahul Chahar said.

“We never really speak about playing against each other. We both know we have to give 100 percent for our respective teams. When I am up against him, I treat him like any other player,” he added.

MI will be looking to take another big step towards the playoffs tonight with a win. With 6 wins from nine games, they are on course for the playoffs. CSK, on the other hand, will be desperate for a win to keep their slim playoffs hopes alive. With only 3 wins from 10 games, CSK’s chances of progressing ahead are very slim.
