MS Dhoni is widely regarded as one of the best finishers ever, and his staggering numbers back the fact. The former Indian captain was a force to reckon with in the death overs owing to his ability to clear boundaries with ease. While he had many shots in his arsenal, his ‘helicopter shot’ to send yorkers in the night sky gave sleepless nights to many bowlers. Hence, Australian pacer Pat Cummins would not prefer yorker against Dhoni in a crunch situation.

Cummins, who’s currently serving isolation in Sydney, has been very active on his YouTube channel lately. The top-ranked Test bowler recently held a live Question and Answer (Q&A) session to interact with his fans. One of the questions was about Dhoni. Cummins was asked what he’d do if Dhoni batted against him with six needed off one ball.

While the Aussie speedster is known to nail pinpoint yorkers, he would go for a different option against Dhoni. “I think I have seen like a million videos of Dhoni hitting sixes off bowlers who missed yorkers. So I wouldn’t bowl a yorker, maybe a bouncer or slower ball or a wide yorker. I prefer not to be in that position,” Pat Cummins said.

Notably, Cummins has dismissed Dhoni twice in international cricket, and on both occasions, the talismanic wicketkeeper-batsman was out caught. Hence, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) pacer would prefer to dismiss the swashbuckler in the same way rather than going for a yorker.

Meanwhile, Dhoni bid farewell to international cricket in August 2020 and has been only playing Indian Premier League (IPL) since then. The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain had a forgettable campaign in IPL 2020 as his team failed to make a place playoffs for the first time in their history. Nevertheless, the three-time champions made a sensational comeback in IPL 2021.

With five victories in seven games, CSK were second in the team standings at the time of season suspension. On the other hand, KKR didn’t have such a staggering campaign this year as they are holding the penultimate spot with just two wins in seven games. Nevertheless, they would like to bounce back when the season resumes.
