Former Australian captain and cricket commentator Ian Chappell have said at a recent press event that he feels much safer in the city of Islamabad than in the country of England.

The 73-year-old Australian has represented the country in 75 Tests, 16 ODIs before retiring from the game of cricket. In his cricketing span, the right-handed batsman has scored 5345 runs in the longest format of cricket, with 14 centuries under his name at an average of 42.42. In the ODI’s, he has scored 673 runs at an average of 48.07 with eight half-centuries to his name.

Safety in England

The former legendary skipper is present in the country of Pakistan, for his expert opinion on the International Cricket Council‘s Champions Trophy in England. The safety in England has been in jeopardy in the recent weeks, with a bomb blast in London following a terror attack at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester.

“We have only been here for a few days, but we are probably safer here in Islamabad then we are in England at the moment,” said Chappell while talking in PTV Sports ICC Champions Trophy transmission.

Chappell’s comments came amidst terror attacks that took in England, in light to the bomb blast where three men killed nearly seven people and injured another 48 people on Saturday.

“That is the question that we should ask the cricket administration, alright you are not coming to Pakistan because of dangers, but now what are you going to do with England,” added Chappell while talking in PTV Sports’ special transmission for ICC Champions’ Trophy 2017.

It is to be seen if the right-handed Australian legend’s comments went in good spirits and were well received by the people of England, due to their ever-lasting Ashes rivalry, but one thing that is certain is that England has to beef up their security with the sudden threat of terrorism on the run.
