ICC calls Ajit Agarkar the next Michael Phelps in a funny Tweet

Former Indian pace bowler Ajit Agarkar who is enjoying his post retirement life, working as an analyst for some portals was brought back to the light by a Tweet from the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Twitter handle on Monday.

They seem to be having the hang of the ongoing Rio Olympics as they posted a picture of the Indian cricketer with a funny caption which asked if Agarkar was the next Michael Phelps.

It was a photo of Agarkar swimming at the team hotel in Port-of-Spain on 26 March 2007. This was taken after the India team got eliminated from the 2007 World Cup having lost to Bangladesh in the group stages.

Michael Phelps is the highest medal winner in Olympics history and is considered as one of the greatest athletes of all time. He is competing in at the Rio Olympics for the last time this year.

Agarkar played 217 international matches for India and picked 346 wickets with the best bowling figures in an innings of 6 for 41 in Tests and 6 for 42 in ODIs. He was also handy with the bat and he had showcased his batting talent on many occasions, such as, scoring a half-century in just 21 balls against Zimbabwe and had also scored a Test century at Lords in 2002.

In domestic cricket, Agarkar captained Mumbai in the 2012-13 Ranji Trophy season, leading them to their 40th Ranji Trophy title. Just prior to the following season, he announced his retirement from all formats of the game.

Earlier, Agarkar made it into the news when he along with Shabbir Rawjee won the corporate Golf Challenge at Bangalore. the Mumbaikar and teammate Rawjee, Akshay Puri and teammate Tarun Bali were the four winners from Mumbai vying for the trophy at the national finals.
