A few days ago, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) invited the current president of International Cricket Council (ICC) Shashank Manohar to attend the final of the tenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). It was seen as a step towards making things more cordial between Manohar and the BCCI. But Manohar has calmly refused to attend the IPL final.

The Committee of Administrators (CoA) invited Shashank Manohar and his wife Varsha to the mega-event. The former BCCI president is the not the man that many of the officials of BCCI like after he curtailed down the Indian board’s revenue to nearly half of what they previously made. The BCCI in return threatened the ICC by saying that they would not participate in ICC Champions Trophy 2017.

That may not be of much use, but Manohar offered the Indian cricket board a revised offer where they will earn $100 million more. Even if BCCI gets $100 million more, it will be no match to the amount they were receiving previously. But many felt that this might be the opportunity for them to cash-in upon. But Manohar shunned it in a letter written to the CoA, he explained his inability to attend the game.

Manohar is now enjoying a holiday in Mahabaleshwar. Mumbai Mirror quoted a source saying, “He has responded to us saying he has family commitments and can’t come.” He was also invited by the BCCI to attend the 500th Test last September in Kanpur. He did not refuse that offer, but ever since then, the relations have worsened.
