Arjun and Sachin Tendulkar have been among the most popular father and son duos in the cricketing fraternity, if not in the world. Sachin is deemed to be one of the greatest cricketers to have played the game for the Indian national team. He made his debut in Pakistan against a bowling attack consisting of the likes of Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis.

He was hit on the nose after which he bled profusely. However, he carried on and played thereafter and the knock became a testament of his grit and determination and he didn’t look back ever since. They wielded his magic in every format and hardly looked ruffled against even the best of bowling attacks. He turned out to be a tormenting factor for bowlers in Tests and ODIs.

He went on to play for 24 years and is currently the leading run scorer in Tests and One-Dayers. He retired in 2013, but his fandom hasn’t died down by any means. Arjun, on the contrary, is a newbie who is taking baby steps among the big daddies of the illustrious sport. He bowls left-arm seam and has made the headlines on a few occasions.

Junior Tendulkar to carry on his father’s legacy

Last year, he hit Johnny Bairstow on the toes at the Lord’s Cricket Ground after which the English cricketer walked away. Arjun was recently drafted into the Indian U19 team for their tour of Sri Lanka. He was only selected for the four-day matches and not for the limited-overs contests for the reason that he won’t be eligible to play the 2020 U19 World Cup.

The Father’s Day is celebrated today and wishes from a number of cricketers have already poured in for the same. Meanwhile, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has also dropped a message on the auspicious occasion. They uploaded a picture of Arjun and Sachin on Instagram and wrote- “Happy Father’s Day! #fathersday#happyfathersday #cricket #father #fathers#dad #lovecricket”
