Just three games were played on the fifth day of the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier 2019. In the 19th game of the tournament, Namibia managed to stun a strong Scotland team. Thus, they managed to register their first win and added two points to their tally. After choosing to bat first, Namibia lost a couple of wickets early. However, the other batsmen made valuable contributions in the innings. The best two came from the bats of JJ Smit (43 off 22) and skipper Gerhard Erasmus (37 off 26) who scored their runs at a terrific strike rate.

Therefore, the team got to 159/6 in 20 overs. Following this up, the bowlers continued the good work and restricted Scotland to 135 runs. Calum MacLeod with 39 off 46 balls was the highest scorer. But the effort was hardly sufficient to take the team anywhere near. In the end, Scotland only managed to get 135 runs in 20 overs and lost the match by 24 runs which is also their second loss in the tournament.

In a low-scoring game between Singapore and Netherlands, the latter comfortably got over the line. Roelof van der Merwe, the man who did well both with the bat as well as the ball, was the Man of the Match in this game. Batting first, Singapore was bowled out for only 101 runs despite Surendran Chandramohan (28 runs) and Aritra Dutta (20 runs) taking the side off to a decent start. Timm van der Gugten and Roelof picked three wickets each. In the chase, Colin Ackermann batted responsibly along with Max O’Dowd to ensure that the team reached the target.

Benjamin Ward made a massive difference for Jersey in the game against UAE in the last game of the day. His 24-ball 47 when the team was under pressure helped Jersey get to 147 before they were bowled out in the 20th over. Later, Harrison Carlyon and Ben Stevens picked up three wickets each which helped power their team to a comfortable win in this game of the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier 2019.
