The Champions Trophy is underway, and we are half-way through to the semi-final stage of the competition, and there is just one team that has already made its way to the semi-finals, and that is the host nation England. The Group B on the other is a fix after all the teams in the group has won a game each.

With a win over Sri Lanka, India could have sealed their spot in the semi-final stage of the tournament, following their comprehensive win against arch-rivals Pakistan on Sunday. Sri Lanka had already lost a match in the Group B against South Africa in their opening match and had to win the match to stay alive in the tournament.

The Island nation did it, and in some style, with a seven-wicket victory over the in-form Indian team, Sri Lanka have given them a prime opportunity to go to the next stage of the tournament when they take on Pakistan in their next encounter. The International Cricket Council had tweeted a photo with a Sri Lankan fielder failing to keep pace with the shot from the Indian batsmen.

ICC did not expect such a backlash from the fans after they had posted that picture on Twitter. One such Twitter user named Ahmed questioned the ICC’s support for the Indian team, where he had replied saying “I dare you to stop kissing India’s ass for 5 minutes. Just 5 minutes.”

ICC in reply, said that “Don’t suppose you were following us yesterday by chance? ???.” This was in regards to the ICC’s tweets after Pakistan had won their Group B encounter against South Africa after the rain had halted their chase.

Despite the rainy affair at Edgbaston, the Pakistan team managed to come home with a 19-run win over the World No.1 side South Africa, keeping their semi-final chances intact.
