Team India Under-19 has had a dream start to the tournament. In the opening encounter, they defeated a strong Australian side by quite a comfortable margin of 100 runs. In the 11th match of the tournament, India faced Papua New Guinea Under-19 team, who were simply blown away by the Indian pacers and bundled out for a paltry 64.

An impressive innings from skipper Prithvi Shaw ensured that the Indians secured a win. The bowlers have been one of the major talking points for the Indian team in this tournament. They are performing exceptionally well and are clocking up some great speeds. Injury Concerns

An Injury crisis with Ishan Porel on the fringes

However, team India is already hit with injury concerns just two matches into the tournament. Ishan Porel suffered an injury in his left ankle on Sunday in India’s opening game against Australia at U-19 World Cup. He was replaced by Arshdeep Singh in the second match against PNG on Tuesday.

With Porel suffering from an injury, the management has decided to call in Vidarbha’s pacer Aditya Thakare as a safety measure. Thakare, who made his Ranji debut in December in the final against Delhi, will travel to New Zealand to join the squad on Wednesday.

Porel took 4 wickets in India’s warm-up game against South Africa U-19. But, he managed to bowl just 4.1 overs on Sunday. He left the field in the middle of his over after suffering an injury in his left ankle. Also, the Bengal seamer did not appear for the training sessions before India’s second game against Papua New Guinea.

Earlier, Thakare was impressive in the Ranji trophy finals for Vidarbha. He replaced Umesh Yadav in the side for the finals. Also, he was praised for his swing and accuracy. He took only two wickets in that match. But, he managed to pick a wicket off his very first over. Thakare will now miss the Cooch Behar Trophy semifinal against Karnataka in Nagpur which is set to start from Friday.
