In many ways, Rishabh Pant reminds one of the greats Adam Gilchrist and that’s probably because of his aggressive approach irrespective of the situation. Rishabh is known to play a fearless brand of cricket and is almost impossible to stop once he gets going. Pant is one of the fewer Batsmen who can hit sixes at his own will, making him an asset to have in the team. Moreover, opening with Pant also allows the Indian team to go in with the element of surprise as the 21-year-old has played in the middle-order, whenever he has featured for India.

Rishabh will be sure to make merry of the new ball as the powerplay conditions would suit his playing style and as we established, once the left-handed batsman from Delhi gets going, there’s no stopping him. If due to some unforeseen and unfortunate circumstances, should Rohit Sharma get injured, Pant should open the innings alongside Shikhar Dhawan.
