Bangladesh made a fairytale start to their World Cup campaign, beating South Africa at the Kennington Oval in London. However, the Tigers lost a couple of matches thereafter and are placed eighth in the points table. Even as their contest against New Zealand turned out to be a closely-fought one, Eoin Morgan’s England rolled them over by 106 runs. Their next encounter is versus Sri Lanka in Bristol.
At the County Ground, Bangladesh has one victory while the Lankans are winless in Bristol. Sri Lanka, on the other hand, defeated Afghanistan after a 10-wicket drubbing at the hands of New Zealand. Moreover, their premier pacer Nuwan Pradeep has been ruled out of the next game owing to a dislocated finger. The Lankan batting also hasn’t performed as a unit and that’s a matter of concern as well.
Here is the guide to select the Captain and Vice-Captain for Dream11 Fantasy:
The 24-year-old Kusal Mendis hasn’t had the best of World Cups thus far. He got out for a duck in the first match and then perished for only a couple versus the Afghans. He has a truckload of talent and that can be comprehended from the fact that he has 15 half-centuries from 65 matches. The middle-order batsman has to find his rhythm and most importantly, get his confidence back.

Shakib Al Hasan
With 260 runs under his belt at an average of 86.66, Shakib Al Hasan is currently the leading run-scorer of the World Cup. His maiden World Cup century versus England was an absolute spectacle, though his team lost by a huge margin. He has also delivered with his left-arm spin in the hour of need. Bangladesh will need their premier all-rounder to carry on with his impressive form.

The left-handed batsman has scores of 16, 24 and 19 in this World Cup after returning from the wrist injury. However, during those stints, he didn’t look comfortable by any stretch of the imagination. And in all three instances, a right-arm pacer accounted for his wicket. He is an attacking batsman and the Tigers will be hoping for the southpaw to come into his own with the bat.

The Bogra-born Mushfiqur Rahim has been consistent, batting in the middle order. The right-hander doesn’t play rash strokes and that’s one reason why he has tasted success over the years. Even in this World Cup, he looked like employing a method in his batting. He would’ve been disappointed after getting out on 44 versus England and would be keen to churn out a substantial score.

Kusal Perera played a quickfire cameo against the Kiwis and that prompted the management to send him as an opener versus the Afghans. The southpaw didn’t disappoint and notched a well-compiled half-century. It’s highly unlikely that he will be removed from that slot. The Lankan batting has been poor and Kusal will wish to take his team off to a flier again.

Soumya Sarkar has been playing some fantastic cricket over the last few months. After becoming the first Bangladesh batsman with a List A double century, he is doing well in the World Cup as well. But he won’t be happy as he got out after getting a couple of starts in the first two matches. The Satkhira-born batter was nipped out by Jofra Archer and he’d want to make amends.
