Australia kick-started their title defence with back to back wins over Afghanistan and Windies but suffered a 36-run loss to India in a high-scoring game. They will face Pakistan who were thrashed by Windies in their first match but bounced back against England. Their game in Bristol against Sri Lanka got abandoned which was deemed to yield them two points. Australia and Pakistan will face off at the County Ground in Taunton where they will feature in an International game for the first time.

All the key stats and numbers to look out ahead of Pakistan’s crucial game against Australia

1 – Pakistan has won only one of their last 15 ODI matches against Australia while Aussies registered a win in the rest. In fact, the Australians defeated Pakistan in each of their previous 8 meetings in the ODI format.


2 – David Warner has scored two fifties in this World Cup; both being his slowest fifties in ODI cricket. He needed 74 balls for his fifty against Afghanistan and 77 deliveries for his 50th run against India.


5-4 – Australia won five of their nine World Cup matches against Pakistan. They lost four matches to the Pakistan team; the joint-most number of defeats for them in the World Cup against any side. They lost five in ten against the Windies and four out of 12 against India.


7Steve Smith has scored fifty-plus seven times in his last eight innings at the World Cup. Smith has scored 553 runs in those eight innings at an average of 79 with help of a century and six half-centuries.


10 – Mohammad Amir has picked up ten wickets in the 32 overs he bowled across his previous four ODI innings in England. Amir has bagged two 3-wicket hauls and two wickets in a game twice in those four games.

Since the Champions Trophy 2017 and before the CWC 2019, Amir featured in 14 ODI matches; all outside England and bagged only five wickets.


21Mitchell Starc has bagged 21 wickets in only nine ODIs he played against Pakistan. He picked up those 21 wickets at an average of 17.71 with two 4-fers and a 5-wicket haul.


60.62 – Aaron Finch’s ODI batting average of 60.62 against Pakistan is his best against any Test playing nation. Finch scored 485 runs across nine ODI innings against Pakistan with two centuries and two fifties.


839 – Usman Khawaja is the leading run-getter in ODI format in 2019. He scored 839 runs this year in 16 innings at an average of 52.43 with two centuries and six fifties. His skipper Aaron Finch is the 2nd on this list with 742 runs also from 16 innings.
