South Africa has had a disastrous outing in the 2019 World Cup in England and Wales. The Proteas, captained by Faf du Plessis, are languishing in the second-last position of the points table with only one point under their belt. Marred with a few injury concerns as well, they are next scheduled to lock horns with Afghanistan at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff in the first of tomorrow’s doubleheader.
Another victory would literally knock them out of the mega event. The Afghans, on the other hand, haven’t had the best of campaigns either. The team, captained by Gulbadin Naib, is the cellar dweller, having lost all their three matches. The Proteas aren’t in the best of shapes by any means and it’s a golden opportunity for the Afghans to register their first win of the championship.
Here is the guide to select the Captain and Vice-Captain for Dream11 Fantasy:
Captain Suggestions:
Quinton de Kock
De Kock is the Proteas’ leading run-scorer in the World Cup with 118 runs from four matches at an average of 39.33 with one half-century. 68 of those runs came in the first match versus England. Thereafter the left-hander has strained to find his feet. If the Proteas are to make a comeback in the championship, then the southpaw has to come into his own.

Hashim Amla
Amla has had a forgettable campaign in the World Cup thus far. He has found it tough to tackle the fast bowlers. In three matches, he has only been able to get 25 runs at a dismal average of 8.33. The experienced campaigner has been an important member of the South African team for quite a few years. His return to form is of prime significance for the time being.

Mohammad Nabi
Prior to the World Cup, Mohammad Nabi was expected to play an important role. He picked up a four-wicket haul versus the Lankans but apart from that has been lacklustre. The Kabul-born is an efficient batsman as well but has only been able to score 27 runs in three outings at an average of nine. He’ll need to find his feet as soon as possible.

Vice-Captain suggestions
Kagiso Rabada
The young speedster is currently the leader of the Proteas pace attack in the absence of Dale Steyn and Lungi Ngidi. However, he hasn’t been able to run through batting lineups, though he has shown sparks of brilliance. In four matches, he has got as many wickets at an economy of 5.40. The pacer needs to spit more fire in order for the South African bowling to do better.

Faf du Plessis
Faf du Plessis, the South African captain notched a fifty versus Bangladesh, but apart from that, he hasn’t got going one bit. The veteran has thus far scored 105 runs in four matches at an average of 35. He poses a massive threat to the opposition owing to his stupendous levels of consistency. From here on, it’s mostly up to the skipper to get his team back on track.

Najibullah Zadran
Najibullah is currently Afghanistan’s leading run-scorer in the World Cup with 98 runs at an average of 32.66. He racked up an impressive half-century against Australia and then did reasonably versus the Lankans as well. However, he succumbed to a rare failure against New Zealand, having got out for four. If the Afghans lost a few wickets, he may need to play a decent knock again.
