Hosts England will be eyeing their fourth win of the World Cup 2019 when they take on struggling Afghanistan at the Old Trafford in Manchester. England will be firm favourites to win the game. The hosts are not only an experienced and stronger side but are also in fine form at the moment. Afghanistan, on the other hand, have struggled to deliver in the World Cup so far. Their inexperience on the biggest stage of the game is very much evident as they have not managed to come up with their usual performances.

England are coming to this game on the back of a thumping win over the Windies in their last outing. It was a thorough all-round performance from the Eoin Morgan-led side. England bowled out the Caribbean outfit for a paltry total of 212. Pacers Jofra Archer and Mark Wood starred with the ball, picking up three wickets apiece.

The score was never going to challenge the formidable batting line-up and Joe Root ensured that the opposition does not make a comeback. With Jason Roy out due to a hamstring injury, Root opened the innings and scored his second ton of the tournament to power England to a convincing eight-wicket win. England, meanwhile, will miss Roy for this game too due to an injury to the opener.

As far as Afghanistan are concerned, not much has gone their way in this tournament. They were tipped to be the surprise package of the World Cup but the newcomers have failed to live up to the expectations. With four losses in as many games, Afghanistan are reeling at the bottom of the points table. Afghanistan had suffered a heavy nine-wicket loss against England in the warm-up game and will have to play out of their skin to even challenge their formidable opponents.

How’s the weather expected to be?

The weather forecast is very promising. According to AccuWeather, the chances of rainfall at the start of the game will be around 6 percent. It will increase as the game wears on but there is no real reason to worry as it is unlikely to cross the 20 percent mark. As far as the temperature is concerned, it will be hovering between 16-18 Degree Celsius throughout. The humidity will be in the lower 60s for the most part of the game.
