Australia have been an absolute brute force in the 2019 World Cup, winning four out of their five matches. With a Net Run Rate of +0.849, Aaron Finch & Co are almost through to the semis. Last time around, their batting helped them over the finishing line versus Bangladesh. Their next match is against hosts England at the Lord’s and another victory at the Home of Cricket will take them to the top of the table.

The Aussies have won five of their seven World Cup match against England, having last lost way back in 1992. On the other hand, the Three Lions, are placed fourth in the table with eight points from six matches. The defeat against Sri Lanka has somewhat rung the alarm bell. With the likes of Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan breathing down their necks, Eoin Morgan and Co can’t afford many goof-ups.

Here is the guide to select the Captain and Vice-Captain for Dream11 Fantasy:

Captain Suggestions:

Joe Root

There’s absolutely no stopping Joe Root in the World Cup. He isn’t belligerent with the bat but has done the job, having scored 424 runs in six matches at an average of 84.80. Barring his odd failure versus Bangladesh, the Yorkshireman hasn’t put a foot wrong. He has batted well in tough conditions as well and England will be hoping for their premier batter to step up in the next match.

Aaron Finch

Aaron Finch has been superlative as the skipper, and he hasn’t flattered to deceive as the opening batsman as well. He got out cheaply versus the Windies but has weaved magic in the rest of the games. In six matches, the Victorian has notched 396 runs at an average of 66. The strike-rate of 109.69 also shows the ominous form he is in. He is expected to play an important role in the next game as well.

Jonny Bairstow

Jonny Bairstow generally prefers to dictate terms rather than playing defensive cricket. But having played at a strike-rate of 95.61, the 29-year-old is yet to come into his own. In the previous game versus the Lankans, Bairstow got out to Lasith Malinga for a duck and he’ll be keen to make amends. He has been amongst the runs though with 218 runs in six matches at an average of 36.33.

Vice-Captain Suggestions:

David Warner

David Warner has made a superb comeback after his one-year suspension period. He is currently the leading run-scorer of the mega event with 447 runs at a gigantic average of 89.4. In the previous game, he pummelled the Bangladesh bowlers to rack up 166 runs. The southpaw has been cautious in his approach at times and that has very well paid dividends.

Steve Smith

Steve Smith has been a floater in the batting lineup and has enacted his role very efficiently. The 30-year-old has racked up 244 runs in six matches at 40.66 to go with three half-centuries. In the warm-up match against the Brits in Southampton, Smith notched a masterful century and that knock would give him a lot of confidence ahead of the next match.

Ben Stokes

Ben Stokes is a vital cog in the England setup and he showed just why in the previous match. He made an unbeaten 82 in the last contest and till the time he was there, the Lankans were on their toes. Stokes was unlucky as he ran out of partners. With 202 runs, he has an average of 50.50 and now would also wish to make contributions with the ball.
