Hosts England will have their task cut out when they lock horns with high-flying India at Edgbaston in Birmingham on Sunday. Both the teams are in contrasting position at the moment as far as their chances of progressing ahead are concerned. While India are almost there, England face a herculean task for the same. The hosts need to win their remaining two games to ensure a spot in the semifinal while India need just a solitary point from three they have in hand.

Team India is still unbeaten in the competition after six games and is thus in pole position to progress ahead. England, on the other hand, is in all sorts of trouble after losing three games including two in a row. They enter the upcoming game on the back of two losses against Sri Lanka and Australia. In both those contests, their batsmen failed to cope up with the pressure of chasing.

Against Sri Lanka, the hosts could not chase 232 and were all out for just 212. Against Australia, England were all out for just 221 while chasing 285. Earlier in the competition, England had lost to Pakistan that too while chasing. Thus one can say that chasing is fast becoming a weakness for the hosts. On the other hand, India have defended their totals brilliantly. In their last two games, they saved modest totals without breaking much sweat.

Against Afghanistan, India defended an under-par 224-run total. In their last outing, the Men in Blue bowled out West Indies for just 143 while defending 268. But with the both India and England more than capable of beating any team on a given day, stats and current form are not going to make much of a difference today. One can expect a blockbuster of a clash in Birmingham.

How is the weather expected to be:

With this game being one of the biggest attractions of the tournament, the fans will be pleased to know that the weather forecast is very promising. According to AccuWeather, the chances of rainfall are zero per cent in Birmingham today. The cloud cover will be in the 40s in the first few hours but will soon drop down to 20s while the humidity will remain in the 50s for the most part of the game time. As far as the temperature is concerned, it will be hovering between 18-22 degree Celsius.
