Except for pride, not much will be at stake when West Indies and Afghanistan would lock horns in the 42nd match of the ongoing World Cup 2019 at Headingley, Leeds. Not many would have thought that Afghanistan and West Indies would fare so poorly at the World Cup. Both the teams especially West Indies were being widely tipped by many as the dark horses for the competition. However, neither of the two teams have quite managed to live up to the expectations.

Afghanistan are the only team in the competition so far who are yet to open their account. With eight losses from as many games, Afghanistan are languishing at the bottom of the points table. On the other hand, West Indies are ninth in the points table with 1 win and another point from a washed out game. West Indies had started the competition on a stunning note by thrashing Pakistan. However, they could not really build up on that.

The two-time winners did manage to give good fight to the opposition like Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka but somehow failed to finish strongly. Afghanistan also did well against the likes of India and Pakistan but lacked the experience to finish strongly. The upcoming game will give both the teams a chance to finish the tournament on a strong note. Afghanistan will be desperate to give their fans something to cheer about by registering their first win of the competition. West Indies would also want the same as they would be keen to give Chris Gayle a fitting farewell in his last World Cup match.

How’s the weather expected to be

The weather forecast for the game is very promising, thus giving both the teams the opportunity to bow out of the competition on a high. According to AccuWeather, the chances of rainfall are zero per cent in the first half of the game. The chances of rainfall will then increase by 1-2 per cent in the second half. The cloud cover will be around 70 per cent for the most part of the game. The humidity will be in the 70s at the start but will drop down to 50s as the game progresses. As far as the temperature is concerned, it will hover between 15-22 degree Celsius.
