Afghanistan put up a spirited show against Australia at the County Ground in Bristol. Though Gulbadin Naib and Co lost the match by seven wickets, the team showed good fight and tried to make it tough for the opposition. Najibullah Zadran was absolutely stupendous as he took on the bowlers. The Afghans also became the first team to cross the 200-run mark in this World Cup among the Asian teams.
Their next game is against Sri Lanka on Tuesday at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff. The Lankans, on the other hand, had a horrendous outing at the same venue against New Zealand, losing the game by 10 wickets. Dimuth Karunaratne, their skipper, scored a fifty, but the rest of the team couldn’t step up. The Afghans aren’t expected to be an easy proposition for them by any stretch of the imagination.
Here is the guide to select the Captain and vice-captain for Dream11 Fantasy:
Captain Suggestions:
Dimuth Karunaratne
From the batting front, Dimuth Karunaratne has looked pretty much at ease. However, the rest of the batsmen haven’t provided him with enough support. Against the Black Caps, the southpaw carried his bat after scoring 52. The rest of the lineup got only 73 runs. The Lankan skipper has a task in his hands versus the Afghans, who have a potent bowling attack, especially in the spin department.

Rahmat Shah
With an ODI average of 36.50, Rahmat Shah is arguably one of Afghanistan’s most consistent batsman. The 25-year-old has a solid technique and that showed in the previous game versus the Aussies. He scored 43 off 60 balls after his team lost a couple of early wickets. He also cobbled together a stand of 51 with Hashmatullah Shahidi. He is expected to be a key player in the next match as well.

Gulbadin Naib
Albeit his team lost the last match, Naib had a good day overall. He batted at number six and scored a useful 33-ball 31. His stand of 83 with Najibullah Zadran was a treat to watch. Later, the Logar-born bowler churned out 16 dot balls in his five-over spell, picking up Aussie captain Aaron Finch in the 17th over. The skipper needs to lead from the front if Afghanistan is to beat the Lankans

Vice-captain suggestions
Kusal Perera
Perera is a power-packed batsman but has somewhat lacked consistency. Even in the previous game, he looked ominous after smashing four boundaries in his knock of 29. He tried to take on Matt Henry and ended up throwing his wicket and his dismissal triggered a collapse. Sri Lanka will desperately want the left-hander to be a little choosy while going for the big and booming strokes.

Hazratullah Zazai
Zazai has been a revelation for Afghanistan in the last few months. He showed ferocity to such an extent that he got into the World Cup squad. But he didn’t have the greatest of outings against Australia as Pat Cummins dismissed him. He feathered one off to the keeper Alex Carey. The Lankan bowling may not be that venomous and Zazai has every chance of making amends and get a big score.

Kusal Mendis
Mendis couldn’t open his account against the Black Caps nicking one off to the keeper. Another Lankan batsman who has loads of potential on his shoulders, but hasn’t done justice to it. He has 15 half-centuries in 64 matches, but only one ton, and it shows that he gets out after getting his eye in. Lanka would need him to get his form back in the forthcoming match.
