South Africa’s misery in the World Cup 2019 continued as they suffered a 6-wicket defeat against India in Southampton. The Proteas now has suffered their 3rd successive defeat in this tournament as they failed to chase 300+ in the previous two fixtures. On a seaming wicket, the South Africans were restricted to 227/9 by a collective bowling performance by Indian bowlers. India took 47.3 overs to reach the target in the tricky conditions to bat as Rohit Sharma guided his team with an unbeaten 122.

3 – Rohit Sharma became only the 3rd player to score a century in an IND-SA World Cup game. Sachin Tendulkar (111) and Shikhar Dhawan (137) scored centuries for India in 2011 and 2015 respectively.

Rohit is also the first to score a hundred in an IND-SA World Cup game while chasing. South Africa chased in the previous four meetings in the World Cup with India.
