Two teams with the solid start to their World Cup campaign — New Zealand and Bangladesh — will lock horns in the ninth match of the ongoing mega event at the Oval in London. Both the teams have started their campaigns with thumping wins and will be keen to maintain that winning start. With the road ahead only going to get tougher, a win in this game will do a world of good for the winners.

In their first game of the tournament, New Zealand blew away Sri Lanka in Cardiff. The Black Caps, who were the runners-up in the last edition, took only 45.3 overs to register an emphatic ten-wicket win. On a pitch that assisted pacers, Matt Henry and Lockie Ferguson ran riot by picking up three wickets each. New Zealand bowled out Sri Lanka for a paltry 136. In reply, the Kiwis chased down the total in 16.1 overs without losing any wicket. Both openers — Martin Guptill and Colin Munro — scored the fifties to take their team home.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, stunned South Africa at the Oval to start their campaign on an unbelievable note. The Tigers beat South Africa in a high-scoring encounter to once again remind everyone of their capabilities. Asked to bat first, Bangladesh post  330 for 8 – their highest total in ODIs. The bowlers then came up with a fine effort to restrict the Proteas to 309 to steer their team to a historic win.

In recent times, New Zealand has thoroughly dominated the proceedings against Bangladesh. The teams have played nine games since the last World Cup and New Zealand have won seven of them. In their last meeting when Bangladesh toured New Zealand, the hosts whitewashed them in the three-match ODI series.

How’s the weather expected to be:

The temperature will be around 15-20 degree Celsius throughout the game. However, there are chances that the whole game might not take place because of rain. According to AccuWeather, there are 23 per cent chances of rain at the start of the game which will only increase with the passage of time. Cloud coverage of around 90 per cent only adds to the worries. The humidity will be hovering between 60-50%.
