Afghanistan remained alive in the race to 2019 World Cup after a convincing 5-wicket win against UAE in the Super Sixes game. Afghanistan bundled out UAE to just 177 with help of Rashid Khan’s 5-wicket haul. Shaiman Anwar’s 64 and a 20-ball 45 from Mohammad Naveed were major contributions towards UAE’s score. Afghanistan lost half their side for just 54 runs before an unbeaten partnership between Gulbadin Naib (74*) and Najibullah Zadran (63*) took them home safely.

4 – Rashid Khan became only the 2nd player to take as many as four 5-fers in ODI cricket before turning 20. Waqar Younis took five 5-wicket hauls in this format before turning 20.
4 – Rashid Khan took four out of the seven 5-wicket hauls recorded for Afghanistan in ODI cricket. Hamid Hassan, Rahmat Shah and Mujeeb Zadran took one 5-wicket haul each in this format for Afghanistan. The leg-spinner thus far took eight 4-wickets hauls with no other Afghanistan player taking more than three ODI 4-fers.
8 – Number of four-wicket hauls for Rashid Khan in ODI cricket. Only Waqar Younis (9) took more 4-wicket hauls in ODI format before turning 20.
8 – Number of fifty-plus scores for Najibullah Zadran in his ODI career. All the eight have come while batting at No.6 and lower with all since 2015. Only Jos Buttler (11) scored more fifty-plus scores since 2015 in this format while batting at No.6 and a lower position.
34.3 – Afghanistan chasing down in 34.3 overs is their 3rd fastest chase of 175+ target in ODI cricket. They chased down 225 in 31 overs against Scotland in 2010 and also 200 in 33.5 against Scotland in 2013.
54 – Afghanistan’s score when they lost their 5th wicket. This is the 2nd lowest score from which a team had a century partnership for the 6th and lower wicket during a successful ODI chase. Kieron Pollard and Denesh Ramdin pair shared 145-run stand after Windies were 5/34 against Bangladesh in 2014.
96 – Number of wickets for Rashid Khan in ODI cricket. He is the 2nd highest wicket-taker for Afghanistan in this format after Mohammad Nabi (102). Rashid went past Dawlat Zadran (95) with the 5-wicket in this game.
124* – The 124-run partnership for the 6th wicket between Gulbadin Naib and Najibullah Zadran is the 2nd century partnership for 6th and lower wicket for Afghanistan in ODI cricket. Asghar Stanikzai and Samiullah Shenwari shared 164 for the 6th wicket against Bangladesh in 2014 Asia Cup game.
