In recent times, the social media handle of the International Cricket Council (ICC) has been garnering a lot of attention and reach among the cricket enthusiasts. Time and again it comes up with different memes, polls, or questions on their handle to increase the engagement and keep the fans entertained.

On March 18, Thursday, ICC took their social media game to another level as they reintroduced some of the top cricketers on the modern-era as the characters of the DC Universe. In the post made by ICC, the Indian team skipper and batting great Virat Kohli can be seen donning the uniform of the Aquaman while New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson is reimagined as the Superman.

The picture also features England’s celebrated world-cup winning all-rounder Ben Stokes as Batman, Pakistan captain across all formats Babar Azam as the Flash, West Indies great Kieron Pollard as Cyborg while Australia’s notable women cricketer Ellyse Perry has been imagined as the Wonder Woman.

Apart from the unique post, the caption also managed to attract the attention of the viewers. ICC captioned the tweet as “United the League #SnyderCut.”  United the League is a smart world play on Zack Snyder’s Justice League set to release this month.

Within a few hours, the post went viral on social media and received a lot of love and attention from the cricket enthusiasts in the form of likes, comments, and shares. The unique post by ICC also initiated a meme fest on the micro-blogging site as people came up with their own versions and added a lot of cricketers in the list who can be imagined as superheroes of not just the DC universe but the Marvel universe too.

While the tweet by the International Cricket Council was widely appreciated by people, some fans were also miffed with the cricketing body for not including India’s young wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant as the Spiderman in the picture. Notably, Pant is jokingly called the Spiderman ever since he has been caught singing the Spiderman song behind the stumps during the four-match Test series between India and Australia.
