Cricketers have come forward and donated hefty amounts to PM-Cares Relief fund in India in the fight against deadly Coronavirus. Gautam Gambhir, the former Indian cricketer turned politician was also one of those cricketers that stepped forward to help the government in Global crisis. Now, he has made a call to every individual in the country to contribute as much as possible.

Amid Coronavirus, the government has extended the lockdown in the country till May 3. It is a major setback for the poor and underprivileged people who are dependent on their daily wages in order to fulfil their needs. The situation looks bad and the death toll increasing day by day. So far more than 1 Lakh people are have lost their lives across the globe. And, looking forward to the situation, the government had to take such a strong step.

We can only win this war if we stand together, says Gambhir

In a recent interview, Gautam Gambhir requested everyone in the country to follow the guidelines in order to win the war against the killer virus. He added that if the government has asked everyone to stay inside the houses then it is important to follow their instructions.

“We can only win this war if we stand together and the most important thing is to follow the guidelines. If we have been asked to stay at home and not leave our house at any circumstance then it’s really important for us to follow this, as it is for the betterment of our nation,” Gambhir said as quoted by Times of India.

The former World Cup winner recited that there is no limit for donations. As per him, if an individual donates one rupee with right intentions then it will make a big difference to the country. “Since we were talking about donations, according to me there’s no limit if a person gives one rupee with the right emotion, it’s a very big contribution.” the 38-year-old added.

So far, Gautam Gambhir himself has donated a total of INR 2 Cr (1 Cr to Delhi Government + 1 Cr to Central Relief Fund. Later on, he also pledged 2 years of his salary to the PM Cares Fund.
