Pakistan has been hit with controversy after it is learned that the cricket team skipper Babar Azam isn’t happy with the team picked for the T20I series against South Africa and Zimbabwe. Many reports have claimed that Azam has also discussed his dissatisfaction regarding the squad with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) but no action is taken.
There were also talks of an argument with the chief selector Mohammad Wasim and Pakistan skipper but no official statement has been made thus far. Speaking about the same former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar advised Babar Azam to be firm on his stance and resign from the captain post to let the officials and people know about his disagreement with the selection of the players.
Akhtar warned Azam against becoming ‘Sarfaraz part two’ and told him to exercise his authority in team selection. The veteran had previously slammed Sarfaraz a lot of times for not standing up against the ex-coach Micky and putting his opinion forward regarding the team selection.
“We are hearing that Babar Azam is calling [Pakistan Cricket Board] and saying that his suggestions have been ignored regarding squad selection. If Babar Azam is so hurt and wants to become a brand, then he should resign right now and send a message that this can’t happen again. If he doesn’t do this, then he will become Sarfaraz part two,” Akhtar said on PTV Sports.
Babar Azam is not impressed with the team selection and Mohammad Wasim is saying it’s not your concern: Inzamam-ul-Haq
Meanwhile, former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq also criticized Mohammad Wasim for not considering the suggestions by captain Babar as he believes that the captain should have the power of making the most decisions regarding the selection as he will be the one leading the squad on the ground.
“The important thing is that team is selected with consultation and I have already said many times that the most important person is the captain. Chief selector and coach are not the most important people because they can’t go inside the ground and the captain who has to make the team fight inside he should have the confidence.”
“Babar Azam is not impressed with the team selection and Mohammad Wasim is saying it’s not your concern. How can Mohammad Wasim say such a thing to Babar Azam? This is surprising. Now, where are those statements of Mohammad Wasim and the policies of the board saying that the captain will have the full authority and will have the main role in the selection?” said Inzamam on his YouTube channel.
