If Prithvi Shaw plays well in Sri Lanka, he can be included in the Indian squad for T20 World Cup: Mohammad Kaif

Prithvi Shaw will get a chance to showcase his batting prowess in the limited-overs series against Sri Lanka. The Indian side will be without a number of regular players, including skipper Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharma, and Rishabh Pant for the series against the Sri Lankan side.

And, former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif feels that Shaw displayed good form in the 14th edition of the IPL, and should make full use of his excellent form when he takes guard against the Sri Lankan side.

Kaif even added that if Shaw can score runs against the Sri Lankan side, then the right-hander can make a case for himself and even has the chance to be included in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup that will be held this year.

“Prithvi Shaw showed good form in the IPL, every big player has a test, when you have that form, the challenge is to make full use of that form. Shaw had a good domestic season and IPL, if he plays well in Sri Lanka and the remaining matches of the IPL, then he can make a case for himself to be included in the T20 World Cup squad,” said Mohammad Kaif as quoted by India Today.

Mohammad Kaif further added that Prithvi Shaw should play some big innings as there is a lot of competition in the Indian side right now. Stating that he does not doubt Shaw’s ability, Kaif added that Shaw is someone who can play impactful knocks for the Indian side.

“There is competition, Prithvi needs to play big knocks. I have no doubt that Shaw has the ability to play well and if he plays well, then he makes sure that his team ends on the right side of the result. Prithvi Shaw plays impactful knocks, we have to see how he plays in Sri Lanka,” said Kaif.

Mohammad Kaif also opined that Kuldeep Yadav has not been getting enough support. Adding that Kuldeep is a very talented bowler, Kaif concluded by stating that Rahul Dravid knows how to look after a chinaman bowler like Kuldeep Yadav.

“Both Kuldeep and Chahal have performed well together, but Kuldeep has not been getting the support. People are saying that his form is not up to the mark or his body language is bad, for me these things do not matter.

He is a talented bowler, the captain and coach should back him. You do not get a chinaman in every market, if you have that bowler, then you need to look after him and Rahul Dravid knows how to do that,” concluded Kaif.
