Virat Kohli’s form with the bat has been the talking point over the last few days in the cricketing fraternity. Though he scored a couple of half-centuries in the three-match ODI series against South Africa, the former India skipper could only muster 26 runs against West Indies in three matches at home. Kohli bagged ducks in the last two ODIs as well and no wonder, the skipper Rohit Sharma had to confront questions about the 33-year-old’s form.

Rohit, however, quashed all the speculations about his predecessor’s batting form and asked the media to not make too much out of it. Moreover, India’s limited-overs skipper also stated that Kohli is enjoying his cricket at the moment and told the media to stay quiet on the matter as well.

“I think it will start with you guys (media). If you guys can keep quiet for a while, then Virat Kohli will be fine and everything will be taken care of. He is in a great mental space and he has been part of international cricket for more than a decade. When someone has spent such a long time in international cricket, they know how to handle pressure situations.

“I think it all starts from you guys, if you can keep it quiet for a bit, everything will fall in place,” Rohit said during the virtual press conference ahead of the first T20I between India and West Indies.

Injury issues for India

India are dealing with a lot of injury issues ahead of the T20I series against West Indies. Three players – KL Rahul, Axar Patel and Washington Sundar – have been ruled out of the series already. However, Rohit Sharma is not worried much about injuries and feels they are the part and parcel of a player’s life.

“We have a very packed schedule and injuries are bound to happen. It is important that we give guys who are going to fill those roles, enough game time. It is important that we use this series and the next series that will follow after this, to our good potential and see whoever are likely to have, what they can offer us,” the India skipper added.
