Pakistani all-rounder Imad Wasim, who is plying his trade for Karachi Kings in the second edition of the PSL, has reportedly claimed to be clean recently. The lucrative tournament was blotched on the very second day with the match fixing allegations. Two players from the defending champions Islamabad United, Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif, were suspended with immediate action after there were speculations about their involvement in match-fixing. Both players were sent back home following their suspicious links with international syndicates. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have been on their heels ever since the news broke out in the media.

They later confirmed on Saturday that they have investigated and interrogated some other players regarding the same too. Among the prominent names to be questioned by the PCB anti-corruption unit were Islamabad United’s Mohammad Irfan, Quetta Gladiators’ Zulfiqar Babar and Karachi Kings’ Shahzaib Hasan. Another big name that was supposedly being linked to the unscrupulous activity was all-rounder Imad Wasim. Imad has taken to the social media to claim his innocence.

In a tweet that he posted early morning on Saturday spoke about his thoughts on the current fiasco. He wrote that all allegations against him are false. He further added that he has always had dignity and pride by his side. His love and pride for the teams that he plays for and the country is unmatched. Imad Wasim tweeted, “The news against me is totally false, i always played n will play with dignity n pride i love my country n respective teams which i play for.”

It is only unfortunate that a promising tournament such as the PSL has had such an unwanted start this year. If the ICC takes a crackdown at the issue, there are chances that the tournament might well end up being a defunct one. Prior to this, domestic T20 leagues like the Sri Lanka Premier League and South Africa’s Ram Slam T20, both were shut down owing to such links with match fixings.
