Imad Wasim just a visa away from making Durham debut

The numero uno in the ICC T20 bowler rankings, Imad Wasim, is roaring to perform in the ongoing NatWest T20 Blast. The let handed all-rounder will don the jersey of Durham County as he confirmed on Wednesday.

The promising Pakistani cricketer is waiting for his visa and will be off to England as soon as it gets issued. Imad also mentioned that the T20 Blast will be an opportunity to relish for him.

“It’s a great opportunity to play for Durham in the Twenty20 Blast. I am waiting for the visa,” said Imad Wasim.

Imad Wasim also held his position as the top-ranked T20 bowler successfully on Monday. He replaced ace South African leg-spinner Imran Tahir to grab the top spot. Wasim also landed a grade ‘B’ contract for himself as the PCB announced the central contract list. He got a promotion from the grade ‘C’ category for his brilliant performances in recent times.

Fellow Pakistani Mohammad Amir is representing Essex in the NatWest T20 Blast while the retired Shahid Afridi is an active member of the Hampshire squad.

Imad Wasim’s career:

The 28-year-old has featured in 26 ODIs and 19 T20 internationals for the country but is yet to make his Test debut. He made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka at the Premadasa and has picked up 26 wickets since then. As far as the shortest format of the game is concerned, Wasim has 23 wickets under his belt. However, his best bowling figures in both the formats are the same, which is 5/14.

Imad Wasim was also a part of victorious Pakistan side which thrashed India in the Champions Trophy final last month. Wasim contributed with the bat in the final as he combined with Mohammad Hafeez to ride Pakistan to a gigantic total of 338 runs. He was unbeaten till the end scoring 25 runs off just 21 balls.
