Imran Khan has launched fundraising campaigns in the past. The funds collected were utilized to set up hospitals. In 1996, Khan established the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, a political party and became its leader. The party emerged as the second largest in 2013 and he was elected to the Parliament. Thus, Imran Khan remains a prominent figure in the political scenario of Pakistan.

Recently, Khan was granted bail on all cases pertaining to attacks on Parliament House. This verdict led Khan to make a tweet quoting the famous Bollywood dialogue “My name is Khan and I am not a terrorist.” This dialogue is from “My name is Khan”, a popular Shahrukh Khan movie. Imran further went on to say “the Supreme Court has pronounced me Sadiq and Ameen and I am coming after them crooks!”

The cases against Imran were filed in 2014. His party had launched the “Azadi March” who were opposing  Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif over claims of foul play in the general elections. As many as fourteen people were killed and hundreds were injured in the march. Khan’s march was seen as a bid to topple the Government and Khan threatened to shut down the country. However, to Khan’s relief, a recent court hearing has granted him bail.
