Delhi Daredevils (DD) have been already knocked out of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). But they have unearthed some of the best talents this season. While the likes of Prithvi Shaw, Abhishek Sharma and Avesh Khan have grabbed the eyeballs, the emergence of Sandeep Lamichhane has been superb. He was given an opportunity late in the tournament and the leggie impressed many with his variations. However, he was seen taking tips from Imran Tahir after the game between DD and CSK on Friday as the latter is being praised by many.
Delhi sensationally defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the dead rubber at the Feroz Shah Kotla as their bowlers bowled to the plan and kept some of the best T20 batsmen on their edge. The slow pitch also aided them with the spinners Amit Mishra and Sandeep making full use of the conditions. The leggie from Nepal bowled a miserly spell of four overs and conceded only 21 runs while picking the key wicket of Suresh Raina which dented the hopes of the visitors in the chase.
Tahir mentoring Lamichhane
It is all about learning when you are young and Sandeep Lamichhane has been doing the same in his maiden stint at the IPL. Soon after the game, Imran Tahir was seen talking to the 17-year-old and gave him some important tips regarding the leg-spin bowling. It was heartening to see that an experienced South African cricketer was constantly in the ears of Sandeep and also looked after his bowling for some time.
Tahir even bowled a few deliveries in order to teach the rookie bowler and spent some crucial time with him. His suggestions will surely hold Lamichhane in good stead going forward. As far as his performance is concerned, he has picked 2 wickets in a couple of matches he has played and has conceded less than 6 runs per over. He will surely play the last league game for Delhi and would love to take away some happy memories from India.
