Imran Tahir greet CSK fans in Tamil, calls MS Dhoni the best 'thala'

With a new decade of IPL knocking on the door, the international players have started flying into the country for their respective stints. The latest cricketer to arrive India is South African spin stalwart, Imran Tahir. And the 38-year-old, who was picked up by the CSK franchise in the January auction announced his arrival in style.

Tahir previously took to his personal Twitter handle and greeted the fans in Tamil saying he would be reaching Chennai tomorrow and is looking forward to playing for CSK. The fans were ecstatic with the tweet as it spread like wildfire and went viral across the state. The spinner, however, got help from Prasanna in writing the post, who is currently working as the performance analyst for Proteas team.

Interestingly, the leggie had started his preparations for his near two-month stay in India way back. While he’ll be donning the yellow outfit of the CSK, he was aware of the language barrier as he is unable to communicate in the local language of Tamil.

Thus to make his stay comfortable, Tahir was already a step ahead in his preparation, and it is Prasanna who has been helping him muster the language.

Tahir, in his Tweet also expressed his excitement to join forces with MS Dhoni again. The South African leggie will continue to share the IPL dressing room with the former Indian skipper after spending the past two years with him at Rising Pune Supergiant.

CSK made a smart buy in Imran Tahir

The veteran Proteas spinner has carved a reputation as one of the best limited-overs’ leg-spinners of his time. A feisty character on the pitch, Tahir boasts of a rich repertoire of variations, with an accurate googly being his biggest weapon. He has successfully plied his trade in various T20 leagues all across the globe and will be bringing in a lot of experience into the CSK squad.

An excellent wicket-taker, Tahir’s performance avers, his age is just a number and to get him at his base price of 1cr was indeed a steal for CSK.
