The monsoon season in India has already begun and this time around it’s stronger than the previous spells. Heavy rainfall is being experienced in several parts of the country. In such conditions, it becomes difficult to hold cricket matches as it affects the smooth flow of the game. A stop-start match is not good for the players as well as the fans by any stretch of the imagination.

The India A team is all set to play two four-day matches against South Africa A starting on August 4. The first match is scheduled to take place in Belagavi followed by the second one in Bengaluru. However, due to the inclement weather forecast, the first match has been shifted to Bengaluru. Both the four-day games will now be held in the capital city of Karnataka.

The groundsmen escalated the matter to higher KSCA authorities

”The match, which was scheduled to be played at Belgaum next week, has been shifted to Bengaluru due to expected inclement weather conditions,” KSCA Spokesperson Vinay Mruthanjaya was quoted as saying in Hindustan Times. This is a positive decision by the BCCI as it would ensure that the match is not affected due to weather and the players get the much-needed game-time in the middle.

Mruthunjaya also said that local groundsmen could not prepare the pitch due to incessant weather in Belgaum, forcing the BCCI to shift the series-opener. ”The groundsmen escalated the matter to higher KSCA authorities, who took up the matter with BCCI officials,” he added.

The team lost their last unofficial Test match against the England Lions by a margin of 253 runs. However, the home conditions are going to be entirely different and the boys will be expected to put up a solid performance in the two games. There are some excellent players along the ranks and they need to take charge of the game and achieve a positive result.
