IND vs AFG: Dinesh Karthik applauds Murali Vijay's 12th Test century

The historic Test match between India and Afghanistan saw the hosts winning by an innings and 262 runs. After winning the toss, they got off to a brilliant start as Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay slammed centuries pummelling the poor bowling attack of the opposition. However, when the latter raised his bat after reaching the three-figures, all eyes were on Dinesh Karthik who stole the moment by appreciating his teammate with a standing ovation from the dressing room.

Both the players are from Tamil Nadu and have shared a dressing room for the State several times. They shared a special bond with each other at one stage but then the personal issues came to the fore and the things were not the same after that. It is a known fact to everyone now that the ex-wife of Karthik is married to Vijay now which has left their relationship in a not so good shape. But the wicketkeeper-batsman is also happily married to the Indian squash player Dipika Pallikal.

Dinesh Karthik though seems to have left his past behind and is ready to be friends again with his teammate. When Murali Vijay reached his 12th Test ton on the first day of the match, the whole dressing stood up in applause and it took no time for Karthik to cheer for him for his achievement. The official Twitter handle of the BCCI posted the video of the opener reaching the milestone in which it could be seen that Karthik is clapping for him applauding his efforts in the middle.

On a personal note, it wasn’t a good game for Karthik as he was involved in a mix-up with Hardik Pandya in the first innings and could only score 4 runs on his come back in the format. He is likely to make it to the Test squad for the upcoming five-match series against England and would’ve loved to get some more runs under his belt.
