Team India led by Ajinkya Rahane is all set to lock horns against the Test debutants Afghanistan at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. The historic game will be played from June 14 as both the teams have already arrived at the Garden City. The hosts are wary of the spin threat Afghanistan possess in their squad and have called up to wrist spinners to bowl to the batsmen in the nets.

Rashid Khan was the chief tormentor of Bangladesh in the recently concluded T20 International series. No wonder he will be the biggest threat for the home side in this Test match even as Mujeeb’s mystery spin is also likely to spin the web around the batsmen. There are two more spinners in the squad and it remains to be seen if the visitors go on all-out spin attack in their first-ever game in whites.

Who are the wrist spinners?

The Indian team will be facing the likes of Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman for the first time in an international game. They are leaving no stone unturned in their preparations as Yuzvendra Chahal and Shivil Kaushik were seen bowling in the nets according to the ESPN Cricinfo correspondent Shashank Kishore. The former has been one of the finds of the last year in the limited overs format while Shivil has different action altogether and is known to fox the batsmen with his chinaman deliveries.

This move from the World number 1 side clearly suggests that they want their batsmen to face enough wrist spin ahead of the Test match. It goes without saying that the visiting side will unleash a lot of spin bowling during the game which is their main weapon. Rashid is known to run through the best of the batting line-ups which was evident during the Indian Premier League (IPL) as well. It will be interesting to see the way the experienced batsmen tackle the spinners of Afghanistan.
