The Indian Team is all set to shed colours to wear the white jersey for a five-match Test series against England which is scheduled to start on 1st August at Edgbaston, Birmingham. After a superlative run in the limited-overs bilateral series against the Englishmen, especially for the skipper Virat Kohli who managed to score two half-centuries and a score of 46 in the three-match one-day series, he will be raring to once again prove his stature in the longest format of the game.

Virat Kohli, who has been one of the most successful batsmen of this generation has, however, nothing to prove as his numbers tell everything. Even then, if there’s a country where he hasn’t been able to get going, especially in the longest format is, England. The last time India toured England to play a Test series, Virat Kohli came in as a player under the leadership of MS Dhoni.

In the five-match series in 2014, when Virat wasn’t able to put the best foot forward and was seen getting out to James Anderson outside off-stump, many critics came in saying that its Virat Kohli’s weakness. He managed just 134 runs in the series at an average of 13.40. However, the 29-year-old worked regressively with the full fortitude to get rid of it and has been able to play the ball going away from his body quite perfectly.

Virat carries an unwanted record

The series also witnessed another unwanting record for Virat Kohli as surprisingly the Indian speedster Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who also featured in all five games managed to score more runs than the current Indian skipper. Bhuvneshwar, who scored 247 runs at a decent average 27.44 hasn’t been able to find a place in the squad this time around due to a severe injury.

Virat Kohli will look forward to once again prove his critics wrong and playing like he plays in other conditions. In one and only practice game that Indian team played, Virat scored 68 runs which gave us a glimpse that the skipper is all set for this much-awaited series.
