Team India is up against West Indies in the first ODI of the three-match series in Ahmedabad. Rohit Sharma moved up with his full-time captaincy thing with this game and all-rounder Deepak Hooda walked in with his debut. In the other development around the match, all the Indian players were seen wearing black armbands for a specific reason.

It was revealed by the BCCI that all the Team India players are sporting the black armband in order to mourn the loss of veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar. Mangeskar passed away in the early hours of the day at the age of 92 after being admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital for one month.

Lata didi loved cricket, always supported the game: BCCI

As she breathed her last around 8 am on Sunday morning, several cricketers came in numbers to pour their condolences. She was the recipient of the Bharat Ratna award in the year 2001 for her remarkable contribution to the industry. She is survived by four other Mangeshkar siblings where she was the eldest one.

“Deeply saddened to hear about the demise of Lata Ji. Her melodious songs touched millions of people around the world. Thank you for all the music and the memories. My deepest condolences to the family & the loved one,” tweeted former skipper Virat Kohli on her demise.

“We have lost the Nightingale of India. Deeply saddened to learn about the demise of the legend Lata Mangeshkar ji. The melody of her voice shall echo through centuries. Rest in peace,” said Dinesh Karthik on Mangeshkar’s demise.
