Rohit Sharma is playing his first game as India full-time ODI skipper in Ahmedabad against West Indies at the moment. This is also his comeback game having missed the South Africa tour due to a hamstring injury. A lot of cricket experts have time and again lauded Rohit’s impact as the leader thanks to his five IPL title while being at the helm for the Mumbai Indians.

And in his very first game as India’s full-time white-ball skipper, the man showed off his skills. During the 12th over of the the West Indies’ batting innings which Washington Sundar was bowling, Rohit Sharma adjusted the field a little bit in order to restrict the run-scoring.

Rohit was clearly heard setting the field at mid-wicket and square leg positions thanks to the stump mic. Even Virat Kohli was assisting him in the middle to have a check on the overall setting before the second ball of the over. Finally after a little halt in play, the action resumed, Sundar delivered a short of a length delivery to which King went on the backfoot.

However, the ball gripped in the surface and came onto the bat a little late. Meanwhile, the batter was already through the shot and he could only chip the ball to the mid-wicket fielder where Suryakumar Yadav was standing. He timed his dive well to get hold of the ball and King was surprised and shocked to know what happened. Rohit Sharma’s captaincy skills were once again on show.

West Indies struggling in the 1st ODI

Meanwhile, the visitors are struggling in the first ODI of the three-match series. After Mohammed Siraj castled Shai Hope early in the innings, the spinners took over and wrecked havoc in the West Indies camp. Washington Sundar grabbed a couple while Yuzvendra Chahal picked three in quick time to leave them reeling 79/7. With Jason Holder still in the middle, the touring side will be hoping to post at least a respectable total on the board.
