The India A team’s domination over the visiting England Lions continued as the hosts took a massive lead in the first unofficial Test match before it ended in a draw. Priyank Panchal struck a brilliant double century to help India A to take a 200-run first innings lead. The keeper-batsman KS Bharat scored a quick-fire 142 while KL Rahul returned to form with a 192-ball 89. Navdeep Saini bagged a 5-wicket haul to restrict the Lions to a total of 340 in the first innings.

The England Lions had a good start to the game with Ben Duckett and Sam Hain scoring 80 and 61 respectively at the top. However, their middle-order and the bowlers failed to make an impression and left the team on the back foot. Hain batted out 178 balls for his 57 in the second innings to avoid a defeat. India A will be led by KL Rahul during the second unofficial Test with Karun Nair been added to the squad having missed out from featuring for the Rest of India in the Irani Cup.

Match Details:

Pitch Condition/Report:

The SDNRW Ground in Mysore is generally a result oriented venue for the 4-day matches. Usually, the track here gets dried quickly and spinners come into the scene. Pacers who have a bit of extra pace and habit of zipping through are expected to run through the opponents in the 2nd innings.

Expert Advice:

The changeover of the captaincy from Ankit Bawne to Rahul is an indication of excluding Bawne from the playing XI. After the double century, even Panchal could be kept aside to give opportunities to the other batsmen in the squad. Mayank Markande and Varun Aaron could get a chance after being benched in the previous game.

Probable Winners:

India A is expected to continue their domination against the England Lions in the unofficial Test series.
