The word “thumping” wouldn’t suffice to describe the way India A outclassed Sri Lanka A in the first of the 2-match unofficial Test match series. Big hundreds from openers Abhimanyu Easwaran (233) and Priyank Panchal (160) helped India A record their 2nd biggest stand in unofficial Tests of 352 for any wicket. They finished with their highest FC total of 622/5 as Anmolpreet Singh (116) and Siddhesh Lad (76) added 147 for the 5th wicket.

Sri Lanka A were bundled out for 232 in their first innings and were made to follow-on by the hosts. Niroshan Dickwella’s 113-ball 103 that included 15 fours came to the Sri Lankan team’s rescue. The visitors were off to a worse start in the second essay as they were three down for four runs. No batter scored a fifty as they got bundled out for 185 to lose the game by innings and 205 runs. Leg-spinner Rahul Chahar claimed two 4-wicket hauls in the game.

Match Details:

The second and final game of the 2-match Unofficial Test series between India A and Sri Lanka A will be hosted by Union Nehru Stadium in Hubli.

The match starts at 9:30 AM local (IST) time (4:00 AM GMT).

Pitch Condition/Report:

This series between India A and Sri Lanka A has given a chance to some of the archived venues in Karnataka to host first-class matches. While the Union Gymkhana Ground in Belagavi hosted an FC game for the first time in 19 years, the Nehru Stadium in Hubli will host its first since 1992.

The venue was used for three Ranji Trophy matches in 1972, 1976 and 1992 respectively. The three fixtures will hardly help in judging the tracks as the first game resulting in an innings win for the hosts, the second match turned out to be a pale draw while the last one got called off on the 2nd day due to curfew in the city.
