The India cricket team has slumped to a couple of hefty defeats against South Africa in Cape Town and Centurion respectively. The Men in Blue will now be playing for pride in the third and final Test at the picturesque Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. Virat Kohli’s men will now want to evade a clean sweep and go into the One Day International series with a positive frame of form.

The team is currently training hard to amends for a dismal tour thus far. However, during their practice session, the Indians complained of a substandard wicket and subsequently asked the curators to re-roll the wickets. Most of the Indians were engaged in playing football. However, batting coach Sanjay Bangar called upon Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Umesh Yadav for a batting session.

The complaint by Bangar

Thereafter, the Indian bowlers got down to bowling at the batsmen. However, during this while, Bangar complained of an uneven wicket following which he communicated the same to Ravi Shastri, India’s head coach. Shastri then called Butuel Buthelezi, the pitch curator and asked him to roll the wickets again. The former Indian cricketer then turned to Bangar and consulted him for the next course of action.

Bangar immediately asked for re-rolling of all the three practice wickets one by one and training continued on the even tracks. Meanwhile, umpire Ian Gould was also seen honing his umpiring skills during India’s net-sessions. He was also seen having a chat with Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper. India will play the final game of the series from January 24 onwards.

Faf du Plessis, the South African skipper, was pretty disheartened with the nature of the wicket at the SuperSport Park in Centurion. However, the pitch at the Wanderers seems to be a green-top and pacers are again expected to make hay on what looks like a bowling-paradise.
