India are scheduled to play Australia in a three-match T20I, four-match Test and three-match ODI series. Their campaign begins with the 20-overs fixtures and the opening encounter will be staged at The Gabba in Brisbane on November 21. The Test series starts on December 6 at Adelaide Oval. In the meantime, former Indian pacer Ashish Nehra believes India have a great chance of toppling the Aussies.

He would’ve commented the same for the reason that the likes of David Warner and Steve Smith won’t feature in the visiting team’s lineup. However, he also said that the conditions won’t be easy in the country and the bowlers would have to bring forth their A game in order to taste success.

It won’t be like England

“Australian team is going through a massive restructuring and this is India’s best chance without doubt. We have the bowling attack to beat them. But we need to be mindful that conditions will be much tougher Down Under where the wickets will be flat and weather would be on warmer side,” Nehra was quoted as saying in Times Now.

“In Australia, you will get extra bounce but there will only be lateral movement till the kookaburra seam doesn’t flatten. It won’t be like England where the ball swings all day. Once you get adjusted to the bounce, batsmen can hit you all day,” he added while talking about how the bowlers need to adjust as per the conditions.

Last time around in 2014-15 when India toured Australia for a four-match series, the visiting team lost the Test series 2-0. Back then, Virat Kohli did exceptionally with the willow in hand and was at par with Steve Smith, who also was phenomenal.

It was also the same series when MS Dhoni decided to hang his boots from Test cricket. Prior to that in 2011, India were slapped with a series whitewash. This time around, Kohli and his troops would be hoping to make amends and put their best foot forward.
