India’s loss in the second Test at Centurion and the subsequent series defeat has come down heavily on the Indian team. The ongoing Test series against South Africa has shed light one few of the most prominent issue that the Indian team is struggling from. While the batsmen’s inability to cope with the pace and bounce has been no secret, the requirement for a consolidated wicket-keeper is still on.

Ever since Dhoni retired from the red-ball format, the Men in Blue have been struggling to find someone suitable behind the stumps. Dhoni has not only set up high standards with his keeping skills but also with his batting in the death overs. Wriddhiman Saha took the responsibility of keeping wickets for India since MS Dhoni‘s retirement. However, in spite of this, India is struggling to find a backup keeper for and the selectors have been going to Parthiv Patel and Dinesh Karthik from time to time when needed.

While questions and debates have arisen regarding various aspects of team selection, former India wicketkeeper Kiran More highlighted an important fact. The 45- year-old has questioned the facilities meted out to the wicketkeepers in the country. Speaking on the same lines, More believes that India needs to have someone to monitor their wicketkeeping skills.

According to TOI, More said, “There’s no one to help wicketkeepers in India. You ought to have people assigned to monitor their growth in domestic games. Video footage is available but no one to monitor and help these boys.

He added, “We even need wicket-keeping coaches who can travel with the team and get the glovemen ready before the first game on an away tour.

India team aims to avoid whitewash in Johannesburg

Following the culmination of the longer format, the teams will lock horns in the limited-overs leg. It is extremely crucial for the Virat Kohli-led side to succeed in the dead-rubber fixture and end on a winning note. The Indian team has already conceded the Test series 2-0. Thus to keep the winning momentum going and to avoid a whitewash, the Men in Blue will need to pull out something special out of their sacks.
