Former Pakistani cricketer Waqar Younis has managed to win the hearts of the cricket fans of India and Pakistan. In a rare occasion, the fans of the two nations were united in their response to a social media update that the former Pakistani skipper shared. Waqar took to micro blogging site Twitter to convey a very friendly message. He posted a picture with a young kid who sported an Indian jersey.

He captioned the picture in the most ideal way. Waqar Younis cited that the game of cricket has no boundaries. This was a direct message to the ones who often believe that India and Pakistan cannot go hand in hand at any instance of time, or at any place.

The cricketing ties between India and Pakistan have not been on happy terms for a long time now. The two teams have not faced off in a bilateral series since the year 2012. The boards of the two countries signed an MoU in 2014 promising to play against each other. While the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been requesting to oblige the MoU, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been refusing to play against Pakistan.

The BCCI has cited no government clearances as the prime reason for the same. The political tensions between the two countries has taken over the sport.

Here is the tweet that Waqar Younis posted:

“Cricket have no boundaries !!@cricketworldcup,” Waqar Younis captioned the picture that he shared.

Whether India plays against Pakistan in a bilateral series or not, that remains to be seen. For now, the fans have found an opportunity to unite on the social media. They came up with lovely responses to the tweet shared by Waqar Younis. India and Pakistan continue to play against each other at the ICC events. They are set to face off yet again at the ICC World Cup 2019.

Here is how the fans reacted to the Waqar tweet:
