Match Details:

The 3rd game of the 5-match Youth ODI series will be played between India Under-19s and Afghanistan Under-19s at the Ekana Cricket Stadium B ground, Lucknow.

The match starts at 9:00 AM local time (IST) (3:30 AM GMT)

Preview:

The Afghanistan Under-19s team suffered yet another defeat as India took a 2-0 lead in the series with a 2-wicket win on Sunday. Batting first for the 2nd time in as many matches, the Afghan team posted only 188/9 in their 50 overs. Abdul Rahman, batting at No.9, scored an unbeaten fifty. Without this knock, the visitors might not have reached 150. India started off the chase well but when the victory was less than 60 runs away, they lost a flurry of wickets. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who batted at No.7 in this game, came to the rescue. He struck an unbeaten 27-ball 38 with help of seven fours.

Weather Condition/Report:

The venue could be under clouds for brief period of time on Sunday but no rain is forecasted during the match timings.

Pitch Condition/Report:

For the 2nd time in a row, the B ground of the Ekana Cricket Stadium recorded another below 200-run total by the side batting first. This sort of scores have become common at this venue and could continue if the Afghans bat first once again. The quality of batsmen playing can also make a difference on this pitch. Yashasvi Jaiswal’s hundred in the first ODI and the innings on Sunday prove this statement.

Average first innings score: 192 (Under-19s matches)

Record of chasing teams: Won – 6, Lost – 3

Top Picks:

With Yashasvi Jaiswal being held back in the batting order, Tilak Varma becomes the most wanted player in the fantasy leagues. He also bowls few overs of spin and took a couple in the last match. Captain Priyam Garg could be crucial if he decides to open the batting. A lot more is expected from Shafiqullah Ghafari who has taken only one wicket so far. Noor Ahmad took the only wicket which India U19s lost in the first game. He took two more in the previous ODI. Rahmanullah recorded scores of 47 and 29 for the visitors in two games.

Expert Advice:

Only Vidyadhar Patil has not played any of the first two ODIs among the players in the Indian squad. He is expected to play his first match on Tuesday. Yashasvi Jaiswal was pushed low down the order so that others get a chance. He could be in the same role in the 3rd ODI and ensure India wins the series with two matches to go. Skipper Priyam Garg is likely to open the innings in this match.

Probable Winners:

India Under-19s are expected to seal the Youth ODI series with two games to spare.
