Australia finally got off the mark in the 5-match ODI series as they defeated India by 21 runs in the 4th ODI at Bangalore. Team India’s winning streak and Australia’s losing streak came to an end at the same time as India fell short in the pursuit of the 335-run target despite being given a strong foundation by their top order batsmen. Earlier, Australia had a 231-run opening stand between David Warner and Aaron Finch but a mini-collapse like in the previous game saw them settle to a total of 334/5.

Here we look at all the stats and records created during the game.

6 – Number of consecutive losses for Virat Kohli at Bangalore. The Kohli led IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore lost all the five games during the IPL season 10.

8David Warner became only the 8th player and the first Australian to score a century in his 100th ODI game. His 124-run knock is the 3rd highest individual score for a player in his 100th ODI.

9 – This loss meant India’s 9-match consecutive winning streak came to an end. Team India has never won more than nine in a row. No Indian captain has won ten ODIs in a row thus far.

22 – Number of sixes Rohit Sharma has hit in ODIs at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. Among Indians, only Sachin Tendulkar (30 at Sharjah) hit more sixes at a venue in ODIs than Rohit at Bangalore.

36 – Innings Virat Kohli needed to complete 2000 ODI runs as captain. He became the quickest to the milestone breaking AB de Villiers’ record (41 innings).

37.2 – Average number of balls for every six in ODIs in Bangalore since 2010. This is the 2nd best balls/six ratio at a venue in this period. (Min: 5 ODIs), Auckland’s Eden Park (New Zealand) has a ratio of 36.7 since 2010.

53 – Number of sixes Rohit Sharma has clobbered against Australia in ODIs. He is the first Indian to hit 50 ODI sixes against an opponent. Only Shahid Afridi (against Sri Lanka, India and New Zealand) and Sanath Jayasuriya (against Pakistan) have hit 50 ODI sixes against an opposition before Rohit.

102Umesh Yadav became the 18th Indian to complete 100 wickets in ODI cricket. He is the 6th fastest among the 18 players to complete the milestone.

231 – The partnership stand of 231 runs between Aaron Finch and David Warner is the 2nd highest opening stand against India in ODI cricket. Herschelle Gibbs and Gary Kirsten put on 235 in Kochi, 2000. Only two other higher stands are recorded against India for any other wicket in this format.

2003 – The last instance when India lost an ODI at Bangalore was way back in 2003 also against Australia. India won five of their previous seven ODIs at this venue with one game ending in a tie while the other game was washed out.
