Another dominating day put’s India 6 wickets away from the victory in their historic 500th Test match at the Kanpur against New Zealand. Starting the day at 159/1, India declared their innings for 377/5 at tea. In the last session, India picked up 4 wickets with Ravi Ashwin completing 200 Test wickets. New Zealand finished the day at 93/4 with another 341 runs needing on the final day of the Test match.

Here we look at all the stats and records recorded during the day’s play:

1 – 12 scores of 30+ have been recorded by Indians in this Test with none of them scoring a century. First such occasion in Test cricket.

2 – Ravindra Jadeja became the 2nd Indian to score a fifty and take a 5-wicket haul in the same Test against New Zealand. Javagal Srinath did it in 1999 at Auckland.

4 – Rohit Sharma became the 4th Indian to score 1000+ runs in all the 3 formats. Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni are the other 3.

4 – Catches taken by Ross Taylor in this Test, most by a New Zealand fielder in a Test match in India.

6 – Number of times top 3 players in this Test scored more than 50+ and none of the crossed 80. This was the 2nd such instance of 6 scores by top 3 in a Test and none of them crossing 80 run mark. India v Australia Test at Chennai in 1998 was the other instance.

7 – Number of times Ross Taylor got runout in Test cricket, the joint 2nd most times by a New Zealand batsman.

8 – Rohit Sharma’s fifty in 2nd innings was his first fifty in last 8 Test innings. His last 50+ in Tests was vs Sri Lanka at Colombo also in India’s 2nd innings.

10 – Wickets taken by New Zealand spinners in this Test, the 3rd most by them in a Test against India.

27 – Runs aggregated by Virat Kohli in this Test, the lowest in a home Test by an Indian captain since 2012. MS Dhoni aggregated 21 runs vs West Indies in 2011 at Mumbai.

37 – Matches taken by Ravi Ashwin to complete 200 wickets in Test cricket, 2nd fastest to reach the milestone.

92 – Ravindra Jadeja’s aggregate of 92 runs in this Test is the most by him in a Test match. His previous highest was 71 runs vs England in 2014 at Lord’s.

200 – Number of wickets Ravi Ashwin has taken in the 37 tests he has played so far. Only Clarrie Grimmett has taken more wickets (216) at end of his 37th Test.

1049 – Runs scored by Rohit Sharma in Test cricket, he became the 63rd Indian to score 1000+ runs in this format.

2007 – Last time before this game, 12 scores of 30+ have been recorded by Indians in a Test match was vs England in 2007 at The Oval.

2010 – Last pair before Rohit and Jadeja to share a century stand for 6th or lower wicket in 2nd innings for India was Sachin-Dhoni (172) vs South Africa in 2010 at Centurion.

6026 – Runs scored by Rohit Sharma in first-class cricket. He went past the 6000-run mark in his 123rd innings at an average over 54.
