New Zealand’s happiness after registering a win on the tour didn’t last long as they succumbed to a 7-wicket loss against the hosts at Mohali in the 3rd ODI. Despite their fate at match results changed, New Zealand captain failed to call right at toss for the 6th consecutive time on the tour and were put to bat again. From 153/2, New Zealand lost 6 wickets for 36 runs but a lower order fight helped them to score 285 before getting bowled out.
After losing openers early once again, it was all about Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni in the chase. Both kept on recording quite a few records on their name and put on a huge stand for the 3rd wicket. Dhoni fell after scoring 80 but Kohli stood till the end and completed the rituals with an unbeaten 154 on his name along with Manish Pandey to give a 2-1 lead for India in the ODI series. 244 – Innings taken by MS Dhoni to complete 9000 runs in ODI cricket, 6th fastest to do so. Among Indians, he is the 3rd fastest to the milestone.
