The ICC World T20 2016 has finally come to an end and #WI held up their nerves as they finished up being the champions by defeating #ENG in the finals. Throughout the world’s biggest T20 cricket tournament, Twitter carried the roar of the crowd and gave fans the chance to get closer to ICC #WT20 action more than ever before. Along with the best companion of any sports fan, Twitter was the best seat to view the conversations around the biggest tournament for shorter version of cricket.
The World T20 also had the most tweets-per-match of any international cricket event and there were a total of 9 million tweets for the 35- match event. There was a 122% increase in tweets-per-match compared to the 2015 Indian Premier League season which had 6.8 million tweets for a 59-match season.
